In late July 1812 near the village of Klyastitsy on the road Polotsk-Sebezh, during a hot three-day long battle between the French corpse under command of Oudinot and and Russian corps under command of Wittgenstein Frenches were stopped on their move to St. Petersburg. In the commemoration of this event reenactment was held near the village of Merevo (Luga region) 14.VII.2012.
